Truth and Reconciliation Learning After 5 Event

Truth and Reconciliation Learning After 5 Event

September 25, 2024 (5:00 PM - 7:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Each year, September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honor the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital part of the reconciliation process.

We invite you to join us for a very special After 5 event on Wednesday, September 25th, at Harris Barn in Ladner, presented by Fortis BC.

Nathan Kaanáx̱ Kuwóox̱ʼ Wilson will be our guest speaker, sharing his story about his lands, his family, and the deep connections his people have had with these lands for generations. For the past six years, Nathan has served as the Indigenous Educator and Cultural Enhancement Facilitator for the Delta School District, visiting schools and classrooms to share his heritage, culture, and knowledge.

Guest Speaker: Nathan Kaanaax Kuwoox Wilson Daklaweidi (Killer Whale) Yukon - Carcross/Tagish First Nation, Champagne/Aishihik First Nation Musqueam First Nation Tsawwassen First Nation

Catering: Proudly provided by Bertha Williams of Yum's Catering, a Tsawwassen First Nation business.
