Marina Garden Estates project is a residential/marina complex located next to Captain's Cove Marina in Deas Slough near Ladner. The project is next to the Ladner Marsh Wildlife Management Area and along Green and Ladner Sloughs, all of which represent very valuable fish and wildlife habitat.

To minimize and offset environmental damage by the project, improved water circulation in the sloughs, new marsh areas and a public park were made part of the project's environment design. A very innovative system for treating run-off from the Marina Garden Estates project was implemented involving the conversion of dredged sand deposits into lagoons which provide fish and wildlife habitats while also using marsh plants to cleanse the run-off before it enters the estuary.

The Fraser River Estuary Management Program feels this project represents an exceptional example of how economic development and environmental quality can be balanced in a sustainable way.
